WHY DO 65% OF CANCER SURVIVORS EXPERIENCE 'GHOSTING' AFTER THEIR DIAGNOSIS?

A sad statistic. At a time when most would feel extremely low, it doesn’t help that they’re also experiencing a sense of loneliness from those around them.

“In research carried out by us here at War On Cancer 65% of our respondents said that friends or relatives had disappeared or cut contact after their diagnosis.”

Many articles and social media platforms have cancer survivors there who talk about the ‘ghosting’ and how it’s very real to them.

One example is Bianca Muniz, who said she had “lost a lot of friends … because people don’t really know how to deal with what I’m going through,”

If you know someone who has cancer, there are many ways to help. But I suppose with all of the above, one of the main things you can do to help is to just be there. Don’t alienate them simply because of their diagnosis. Treat them with love and kindness, just like you would to everyone else.
