It’s pretty extraordinary that both Al-Qaeda and Lebron James are in the same sentence. But here we are. Who would have thought? Not me!
It’s worth noting, that this is not just any member of Al-Qaeda, this member was the translator for the former leader, Osama bin Laden. Can imagine he must have told bin Laden a thing or two about Lebron…
Just to provide some context to the situation, back in 2010, James left the team that drafted him, Cleveland Cavaliers to join rivals, Miami Heat. This is, to this day, considered one of the biggest moves in NBA history.
As you can imagine, fans did not take this well at all. The owner launched a scathing verbal attack on James, fans sent him threats, burned his Cleveland jersey, and so on.
Muhammad Rahim, an Afghan who was a translator for Osama bin Laden was behind bars at the time of the move, and said: “LeBron James is very bad man. He should apologise to the city of Cleveland.” There’s no real context for this hilariously enough, i.e., what prompted him to say this…?!
Either way, James did not apologise. In fact, James returned to the city of Cleveland to win them a Championship. Wonder what Muhammad made of that move…
