George Clooney is known around Hollywood as being a bit of a prankster. Whilst Clooney was with Pitt and Don Cheadle, he managed to convince them (with the help of his Italian friend Giovanni), that the house on Lake Como was haunted.
They read a fake story about how a man who used to live in the house, would kill people and dispose of their bodies in the lake.
Soon after that, they all took a boat ride to the ‘haunted house’, and there, Clooney and the others came up with the bet. Whoever can stay the night in the house, gets $10,000. And all they have with them, is a candle, six matches, and a bottle of wine.
Cheadle and Pitt accepted the bet. One of the conditions would be to take the candle and take it by every window so the others could see them exploring the house.
According to Clooney, they went by a couple of windows before he got a call from Cheadle and Pitt saying “f**k that, get us out of this house”. So Clooney went back, picked them up, and they went on to film ‘Ocean’s 12’.
