Being shot four times, you’d usually think the person on the end of that would have died, but John Paull II was no ordinary man, in fact, he was a man with God by his side.
Moreover, a man by the name of Mehmet Ali Agca attempted to assassinate the Pope at the time, John Paul II. When John Paul II entered Turkey, Mehmet went to go see him with thousands of others.
Mehmet shot the Pope twice in the intestines, once in the arm, and once in the hand. Miraculously, John Paul II survived.
Shortly after the incident, John Paul II publicly forgave Mehmet and even visited him when he was in prison.
In 2010, Mehmet was released from prison and claimed he had converted to the Roman Catholic Church and had even asked for Polish citizenship so he could live in Poland – Pope John Paul II’s country of birth. He had even visited the tomb of the former Pope in 2014.
In 2014, he requested to meet the new Pope, Pope Francis but was refused. Wonder if it was because he had shot John Paul II four times…
