IS THE CAPYBARA THE WORLD’S FRIENDLIEST ANIMAL?

Most scientists & researches who study the chill capybara would argue that the answer that the capybara is so friendly that even some ‘perceived’ predators don’t really fancy killing them.

One fun fact to keep in mind is that the capybara is best friends with the South American crocodile, they’re regularly seen swimming together…! How cute.

Some theorise that they get along so well because the capybara is just so chill. And who doesn’t like a chill friend with great energy?! Spoiler alert, a few of the predators mentioned below…

Since they seem to chill and friendly, can you have one as a pet? Well in the UK, “you can keep a Capybara… however, you will need a licence provided by your local council to certify your accommodation and land is sufficient for a Capybara to live in.”

And as for the US, “you can legally keep a capybara as a pet in the US, but only in Pennsylvania and Texas.”

As to why they are so chill, some believe that it’s because their lifestyle of swimming, having lookouts warning them of any dangers, and being in a big social group, contributes to the capybara’s chill and friendly demeanour.

They usually have a lifespan of around 8 years, but unfortunately, their predators, jaguars, pumas…etc., don’t quite care how chill they are, which means they typically only reach 4 years.
