HOW DID NIKE LOSE STEPHEN CURRY AS A POTENTIAL NIKE ATHLETE?

Nike is known for having some of the biggest stars in all sports, rep their gear. Whether it’s Christiano Ronaldo, or Rafa Nadal – where there’s a sport, there’s a Nike athlete.

But one athlete who I’m sure Nike would have loved to have on their team, is basketball icon, Stephen Curry.

According to Steph and his father Dell Curry, they were being pitched the idea by Nike ‘sales’ personnel, but they made a few fatal errors.

Firstly, they mispronounced Stephen Curry’s name. According to Dell, the issue wasn’t with the fact they made the error, he “was surprised that [they] didn’t get a correction.’ Rookie error, Nike.

But it gets worse…

“A PowerPoint slide featured [then Oklahoma City Thunder forward] Kevin Durant’s name, presumably left on by accident.” After that, the deal was basically off the table.

It’s been recently reported that Under Armor – who he signed with instead, has offered him a $1 BILLION deal, which would be a lifetime contract. So no doubt, he and Under Armour are doing pretty well together.
