DOES EMINEM HOLD THE RECORD FOR THE FASTEST RAP VERSE?

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, got the name Eminem from his initials – M&M. There’s a free fact for you.

But to the real hot topic of discussion, who holds the world record for the fastest rap verse? It’s important to state that whilst there may be rappers out there with incredibly fast verses, this post is only looking at rap verses that would be classified as a “hit single”.

This means songs such as “Power Up” by Crucified which was released in 2017 and has allegedly hit speeds of over 20 syllables per second, aren’t included in the “hit single” category.

For those who haven’t heard the song, imagine playing a normal song but at x20 speed – you literally can’t understand most of what is being said.

Either way, this limits the number of songs that can qualify to hold the record of “fastest rap in a hit single”.

For those familiar with the rap game, Eminem released “Rap God” in 2013, which had 97 words in 15 seconds, which clocks out at 6.46 words per second. Which did hold the record for fastest-ever rap verse in a hit single.

That was until Nicki Minaj released “Majesty” in 2018, where Eminem (again!) where had 78 words in 12 seconds which clocked in at 6.5 words per second, which just beat the “Rap God” verse.

But unhappy with the 6.5, Eminem decided to go ahead and break it once again. He released “Godzilla” in 2020, which smashed the previous records, as he managed to spit 225 words in 30 seconds, which was around 7.5 words per second.

Not only does Eminem hold the record for fastest rap verse (on a hit single), but he’s also broken the record three times. Two of which belonged to him…!

I guess you could say he’s certainly a “Rap God”.
