WHAT HAPPENED WHEN PRINCE HAD 'TECH ISSUES' DURING HIS SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW?

It’s been a hot topic of discussion in recent years, who has had the best Super Bowl halftime show? With the likes of Michael Jackson, Dr Dre, and many others having performed over the years, many would confidently argue that Prince holds the title of having performed the greatest EVER.

But it could have turned out very differently… It could have gone down as one of the worst performances, had it not been for the heroic efforts of one man who worked backstage that day.

According to a few eyewitnesses, part of the stage the set was on, had run over and severed a power cable. This would have meant a large part of the performance would have been dented, but one man wasn’t prepared to let that happen.

“Tony Ward… took his pliers and stripped the insulation off the three cables. And he inserted them into a plug, just raw, and held that for the entire 12-and-a-half-minute duration, in the rain.”

An important fact to keep in mind here is that Tony risked electrocution, as it was pouring rain during the show. Talk about dedication…!

And yes, he did in fact end his legendary set with Purple Rain. No wonder many say that the greatest Super Bowl Halftime Show belongs to Prince. When you end it on that, how could you disagree?!

Rest in power, Prince.
