WHY DID SERENA WILLIAMS VOICE MING THE PRISON GUARD ON "AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER"?

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an “American anime-influences animated” television series that aired on Nickelodeon. It’s arguably one of the great anime/animation TV-series of all time, and has a hugely impressive IMDB rating of 9.3/10, and has also won a fair few awards too along the way.

Serena Williams, arguably one of the greatest athletes of all time, dubbed the “Queen of Tennis” (by me), was a huge fan of the show and described Avatar as “her favourite show”.

Almost every anime fan’s dream is to take part in the voice acting in their favourite anime series. And Serena did just that. In 2007, she played the part of Ming – a female prison guard who makes one appearance in episode 51.

Back in 2018, she Tweeted about Avatar too: “Avatar last air bender fans only: Question- If the original benders were the sky bisons, badger moles, and dragons; how does that tie in with Avatar Wan when the lion sea turtle gave all the people bending power?????

Whilst you might not understand what she’s saying, you certainly can’t say she’s making up her passions for the show!
