HOW DID LEGENDARY CRICKETER SIR VIV RICHARD'S REPLY TO A SLEDGE FROM A BOWLER
For those unfamiliar with the term ‘sledging’, it’s “the practice of deliberately insulting or verbally intimidating an opposing player. The purpose is to try to weaken the opponent’s concentration”. But within the beautiful game of cricket, it can backfire… just ask Sir Viv Richards and Greg Thomas.
It’s normally implemented in the game when you’re trying to get under your opponent’s skin. It’s certainly not something you would do to a friend…!
And for those unfamiliar with cricket… well… just know for now it involves a ball and a wooden bat.

Sir Viv Richards, one of the best cricketers of all time delivered arguably one of the greatest ever responses to being sledged in a cricket game.
Sir Viv Richards was batting, and had missed a few balls. Bowling at him was Glamorgan player Greg Thomas. Thomas decided to throw a sledge at Sir Viv Richards by saying “it’s red, round, and weighs about five ounces, in case you were wondering.”
The very next ball.
Sir Viv Richards hits the ball out of the ground, to which Sir Viv says to Thomas, “Greg, you know what it looks like. Now go and find it.”
So if you’re ever playing cricket, and you’re thinking about sledging your opponent, just think about what happened when Thomas sledged Richards.
